Infrastructure Technician Apprentice
We have a very exciting opportunity for an Apprentice to join our IT Department at entry level and to acquire specialist on the job training. This vacancy is open to those aged 16-64 due to government funding restrictions.
Working to a high standard under the direction of the IT Manager, we are looking for an enthusiastic apprentice to assist with the day to day functions and deadlines of a busy department which currently provides support and training to approximately 200 users in 4 different locations. Based at Banham Zoo, this exciting new role will encompass all aspects of IT including the planning, development and maintenance of IT systems and networks and whilst no prior knowledge is necessary, as full training will be given, a real interest in IT is essential. A full, clean driving licence will be required. Due to the nature of our business, some weekend and Bank Holiday working will be necessary.
The successful candidate will also be expected to achieve a Comptia A+ qualification during the course of their apprenticeship which is anticipated to last between 12 and 23 months, and this will be facilitated via day release through a training provider in Ipswich.
Hours: 40 hours a week
Salary £3.50 per hour for the first year,
rising to National Minimum Wage depending on age

Animal Training and Presentation Apprentice
We have a very exciting opportunity for an Apprentice to join our Animal Training and Presentation (AT&P) team and acquire specialist on the job training. This vacancy is only open to those aged 18 and over due to provisions under the Young People at Work regulations.
The apprentice will work to a high standard under the direction of the Head of Animal Training & Presentation. AT&P provide in house Bird of Prey and Amazing Animals presentations and the successful candidate will also provide support for the rest of the respective team where required, working under their guidance with a variety of domestic and exotic species.
No prior zoo or animal training experience for the post of apprentice is required as full in house training will be given, although candidates will be expected to demonstrate a keen interest in animal training and husbandry. The successful candidate will also be expected to achieve an NVQ Level 2 in animal care during the course of their apprenticeship which is expected to last between 12-14 months. Please note there is no progression route to level 3 due to the job role and responsibilities and that applicants with level 2, 3 or degree level animal care qualifications are not eligible to apply due to the current funding restrictions.
Hours: Average 40 hours a week.
Salary £3.50 per hour – for the first year, rising to minimum wage thereafter, dependant on age.
This role is based at Banham Zoo. Please note that there is no on site accommodation available for this position, it is therefore assumed that applicants will live locally to the zoo, have their own transport or be in a position to relocate affordably.

Looking for Santa? We are ….
We’re looking for someone to play a key role in our Christmas activities at Banham Zoo this December.
Applicants must have a jolly disposition, be male (sorry ladies), enjoy giving out gifts to children and must like mince pies and reindeer! Button noses and round bellies are not essential as we can help with that.
Hourly rate of pay: £7.50 per hour.
Successful applicants must be available on the following dates: 2nd, 3rd, 9th, 10th, 16th, 17th and the 20th to the 24th December after which they will need to get sleigh bound to visit children across the world!
A full DBS check will be required prior to starting work.
