We have a very exciting opportunity for two Apprentice Keepers to join our Zoo Animal Management (ZAM) team and acquire specialist on the job training. This vacancy is only open to those aged 18 and above due to provisions under the Young People at Work regulations.
The apprentice keepers will work to a high standard under the direction of the senior ZAM staff. The ZAM department care for the main collection of animals at the zoo and the successful candidates will assist in caring for a variety of domestic and exotic species whilst also providing support for the rest of their respective team where required.
No prior zoo or animal husbandry experience for the post of apprentice is required as full in house training will be given, although candidates will be expected to demonstrate a keen interest in zoo animal husbandry. The successful candidates will also be expected to achieve an NVQ Level 2 in animal care during the course of their apprenticeship which is expected to last between 12-14 months. Please note there is no progression route to level 3 due to the job role and responsibilities and that applicants with level 2 animal care qualifications or above or those with degree level education are not eligible to apply due to the current funding restrictions.
Hours: Average 40 hours a week
Salary £3.50 per hour – rising to minimum wage after first year depending upon age

Carpenter / Maintenance Person
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Carpenter / Maintenance person based at Banham Zoo.
A chance to join an existing team, working in one of Norfolk’s leading attractions, based in Banham. The work will involve building repairs and maintenance to existing structures and buildings within the zoo, in accordance with best trade practice and to correct standards and regulations. It will involve new build, pre-planned and reactive maintenance.
You must have time served experience with a proven track record and be prepared to work alongside the general public.
This is a permanent 42.5 hour per week role, working Monday to Friday. Competitive salary offered.

Activities & Presentation Officer
An exciting opportunity has arisen at Banham Zoo for a seasonal Activities & Presentation Officer
This role involves working in a close team to deliver quality presentations, which promote conservation, the work of the Zoological Society of East Anglia and the wonders of the natural world. It includes driving and presenting the Safari Roadtrain as well as assisting with the feeding talk programme and animal handling sessions. The role will also include assisting the Education Officers with day-to-day tasks such as animal husbandry, event planning, up keep of the Education Centre and production of educational resources.
The position is offered as a zero hour contract, with specific hours / days to be discussed. The contract will run until the 31st October 2017.
The successful candidate will have experience of public speaking and good communication skills, together with a good level of animal/environmental knowledge, coupled with excellent customer care.
Candidates must be over 21 years old with a full driving licence and over 2 years driving experience in order to drive the Roadtrain in accordance with our insurance requirements.

We are looking for a self-motivated team player to work within our small finance team for one of the leading visitor attractions within Norfolk and Suffolk.
The successful candidate will be part qualified up to AAT Finalist or with similar experience, and be able to work up to trial balance level.
The position offered is for 3 to 4 day a week, with some flexibility within the hours. The salary offered will be £20,000 pro rata. The role is based at our Head Office in Banham.
