Seasonal Team Member – Food & Beverage

We are looking for committed and enthusiastic people to work in the catering outlets of our award winning zoo during our main season, running through from March to November.

This is a varied role and includes preparing and serving food, till operation and general housekeeping.  We offer full training with a chance to work in a fun and exciting environment.

Seasonal Team Member – Admissions & Gift Shop

We are looking for committed and enthusiastic people to work in the Admissions and Gift Shop areas of our award-winning zoo during the main season, running from March through to October half-term.

This is a varied role, ensuring our visitors receive a warm and friendly welcome, with a chance to work in a demanding but exciting environment. Ideally, someone with previous retail experience would be an advantage but full training will be given.  This role will also include entertaining our guests as a costume character/minder, ensuring that we provide a fun and exciting experience for children whilst visiting the zoo.

Successful candidates will be required to attend to all customers in a polite and friendly manner ensuring a high level of customer care at all times.

Due to the nature of our business, successful applicants must have a flexible approach to working hours and be able to work weekends, school and bank holidays.

Seasonal Team Member – Guest Services

This position is a front line role looking after guests in person in addition to telephone, e-mail and written enquiries, season tickets, group and birthday party bookings.

The successful candidates will ideally have previous experience of working in a similar environment. We are looking for people who have an eye for detail, are accurate and well organised, and have a genuine desire to give excellent customer service.

Seasonal Team Member – Cleaning

We are looking for a Seasonal Cleaning Assistant to join our team to help maintain the very high standards we require at our award winning zoo during our main season, running through from March to October half-term.  We need someone who has a warm, friendly and outgoing personality and is very much a ‘people person’ as you will be out and about around the park.

Duties will include general day to day cleaning of all offices and all outside facilities, including litter picking and cleaning toilets. We offer full training, with a chance to work in a demanding but exciting environment.

Due to the nature of our business, jobholders will be required to complete a Criminal Records Check. In addition, applicants must be able to work school holidays, plus weekends and Bank Holidays and offer a flexible approach to hours.

Animal Training and Presentation Apprenticeship

We have a very exciting opportunity for an Apprentice to join our Animal Training and Presentation (AT&P) team and acquire specialist on the job training.  This vacancy is open to those aged 18-24 due to government funding restrictions and provisions under the Young People at Work regulations.

The apprentice will work to a high standard under the direction of the Head of Animal Training & Presentation.  AT&P provide in house Bird of Prey and Amazing Animals presentations and the successful candidate will also provide support for the rest of the respective team where required, working under their guidance with a variety of domestic and exotic species.

No prior zoo or animal training experience for the post of apprentice is required as full in house training will be given, although candidates will be expected to demonstrate a keen interest in animal training and husbandry.  The successful candidate will also be expected to achieve an NVQ Level 2 in animal care during the course of their apprenticeship which is expected to last between 12-14 months. Please note there is no progression route to level 3 due to the job role and responsibilities and that applicant’s with degree level education are not eligible to apply due to the current legislation.

Hours: Average 40 hours a week.

Salary £3.40 per hour – for the first year, rising to minimum wage thereafter, dependant on age.

This role is based at Banham Zoo and is likely to commence before Easter. Please note that there is no on site accommodation available for this position, it is therefore assumed that applicants will live locally to the zoo, have their own transport or be in a position to relocate affordably.
