Brazilian White Knee Tarantula

The Brazilian white knee tarantula is a large, fast-growing species with a legspan of over 20cm (8.5”). Females are larger than males.

The white knee tarantula is found in the rainforests of northern Brazil. They are found in burrows, which they are believed to dig themselves.

Diet

These spiders mainly eat insects and other invertebrates. They are very fast hunters and may even take small mammals!

Breeding

Females lay hundreds, or even thousands, of eggs in a large white egg sac. These hatch after around 2 months and the young are only a few millimetres in size!
