The grey peacock-pheasant lives in dense tropical forest up to 1,300 metres above sea level.

They eat a wide variety of foods, including berries, fruits, seeds, wild figs, grubs, snails and insects.

Breeding

They make their nests at the base of bamboo clumps or in thick bushes. The female lays 2 eggs, which are incubated for 21 days.

The grey peacock pheasant is not classed as endangered, however it is listed on Appendix II of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES), which regulates international trade in this species.
