Diet

Pied imperial pigeons are fruit eaters feeding on a variety of fruits including nutmeg and figs. They feed in the trees, sometimes hanging upside down to get the ripe fruits.

Loose stick nests are built high in the trees and a single white egg is laid, which is incubated for around 25 days.

These pigeons are not classed as endangered as they have a large population and range, however their numbers are believed to be decreasing due to persecution as a pest in plantations.
