Activities & Education Assistant

Banham Zoo Ltd is looking to recruit a seasonal Activities & Education Assistant to become part of the team within the Activities & Education Department.  This position involves assisting with the daily husbandry of the animals within the department, as well as providing daily animal handling presentations and feeding talks to the general public, face-painting and liaison with birthday parties, to ensure all of our visitors have a fantastic day out.

The successful candidate will have an outgoing and friendly personality; they will be customer focused and happy to present displays and presentations and interact with the public, particularly children. 

Previous experience in animal care would be advantageous, but is not essential as full training will be provided.

This is a seasonal, fixed term contract, which expires mid September 2010.  This position is offered on a “zero hours” basis, and working hours will be as and when required.  Bank Holiday and weekend working will be required.

Catering Manager

We are looking for an experienced and highly motivated Catering Manager to join the team at our award winning zoo at Banham.  You will be hardworking, with excellent communication, planning and supervisory skills.

The successful candidate will cook and provide support to the “in-zoo” catering team, providing a range of home-cooked dishes and also fast food, whilst maintaining high standards despite high volumes of customers.  

Experience of volume catering would be an advantage. Menu planning and budgeting are also key elements of this role and previous experience in these areas is essential.

This permanent, full-time role requires a flexible approach to hours and the days worked, as it will entail some weekend, evening and bank holiday working.

VOLUNTEERS REQUIRED

(minimum age 18) to help in the Zoo Animal Management Department.

Successful applicants will have an opportunity to assist the ZAM staff with their many varied duties, these include the upkeep of animal enclosures and surrounding areas, preparation of animal diets, helping to sell tickets for the annual FOBZ raffle as well as assisting the ZAM admin department when necessary.

There may also be potential for future development where working directly with non dangerous stock may be permitted dependant on individual ability and the needs and requirements of the department.

These posts would suit outgoing individuals who enjoy interacting with public, being outdoors and have an interest in the natural world.

Hours are flexible and would be between 8:00am to 4.00pm.

These posts would suit individuals who enjoy interacting with the public and have an interest in the natural world. Hours are flexible and would be between 9am to 5pm Mon – Sun.
