Some Helpful Links
How much time should be allocated for a school visit to the park?
We recommend allowing at least four hours, especially if you'd like to include a Private Teaching Session.
How far in advance should I book?
To avoid disappointment, we recommend booking at least four weeks in advance. For bookings or availability inquiries, please contact schools@zsea.org.
When will you invoice us for the school trip?
We submit the invoice 2 weeks prior to the visit. We do this in advance as we understand that some trusts can take up to 60 days to process an invoice.
Which entrance should we use?
Public, group, and education visitors should use the main entrance, either through the kiosks or, on quieter days, through the shop located at the front of the zoo.
Can students use their annual membership pass?
Yes, students can use their annual membership passes. Please inform us of the number of members when booking, and remind students to bring their cards on the day of the visit.
Can students use a Blue Peter badge?
Unfortunately, Blue Peter badges cannot be accepted for educational visits, as per the BBC's terms and conditions.
Can food be pre-ordered?
Yes, you can pre-order picnic boxes and group meals. Please email schools@zsea.org to make a booking, and ensure it’s done at least 2 weeks before your visit.
Is there a place to eat packed lunches if it rains?
Yes, there is an undercover picnic area next to the outdoor play area for rainy days.
Is there somewhere to store our bags?
Yes, there’s a cloakroom/bag store for school groups in the Discovery Centre, subject to availability. Contact schools@zsea.org to reserve a space.
Is there coach and minibus parking?
Yes, there is a dedicated coach park right outside the Zoo with space for up to 10 coaches.
Does the zoo have a risk assessment?
Yes, we provide risk assessments and guidelines to help with your planning when you book. For specific accessibility questions, please check the accessibility pages on our website or contact schools@zsea.org.
