The Snowman and The Snowdog brick trail

The Snowman and The Snowdog fans will be able to meet their favourite characters this Christmas as Banham Zoo hosts a magical new tour, The Snowman™ and The Snowdog brick trail, presented and built by BRICKLIVE.

The Snowman and The Snowdog brick trail is inspired by the much-loved animated film The Snowman and The Snowdog, the sequel to Raymond Briggs’ classic picture book The Snowman, which was first published in 1978.

Based on the UK’s favourite festive characters, the tour will consist of 16 wonderful models including 4 large models for memorable photo opportunities and 12 smaller models to create an interactive festive trail made from brightly coloured toy bricks.

Banham Zoo is the first zoo in the world to host the 2019 launch of The Snowman and The Snowdog official BRICKLIVE tour, launching on Friday 29th November 2019 at an exclusive event to the zoos annual pass holders and then open to the general public from Saturday 30th November running through till Sunday 5th January 2020.

The four amazing large brick models include The Snowman standing at 1.8 metres tall and will use a whopping 53,851 bricks to build; Billy building The Snowman will be 1.3 metres tall using 42,901 bricks; The Snowdog at 75cm high using 11,526 bricks and a 1.8 metre wide Mosaic Head in the Hole selfie zone of the famous trio flying through the air made using 28,000 bricks.

To create the interactive Christmas trail around Banham Zoo, BRICKLIVE will build twelve 30cm high models consisting of famous scenes, themes and characters from The Snowman and The Snowdog including the House at Night, Grandfather Clock, Christmas Tree and Father Christmas. Visitors to the zoo will be able to follow the models to complete the trail, and enter into a free prize draw on completion.

David Field, CEO of the Zoological Society of East Anglia which manages Banham Zoo, said: “The Snowman and The Snowdog brick trail at Banham Zoo is an opportunity for people of all ages, across the region and further afield, to come together and enjoy these amazing models. Banham Zoo will have something for all fans of these iconic building bricks and The Snowman and The Snowdog.”

“We look forward to welcoming families to this spectacular event, which is included in our standard admission prices, and explore Banham Zoo as they visit each character on the trail – not forgetting the opportunity to see and connect with all the amazing wildlife at Banham Zoo”.

Thomas Merrington, Creative Director at Penguin Ventures, said: “We are always looking at how we can bring our classic characters to family audiences in new and unexpected ways and partnering with BRICKLIVE does exactly that. The sculptures show incredible attention to detail and we are really excited to see this trail come to life at Banham Zoo for Christmas 2019!”

The Snowman and The Snowdog BRICKLIVE trail will take place from 30th November 2019 till 5th January 2020 at Banham Zoo. More details on the trail and competition will be released in due course.
