Hands on Learning!
Key Stage 3 Programme
Each Key Stage 3 Discovery Session involves a selection of small animals from a variety of groups (e.g. insects, molluscs, reptiles and mammals) and biofacts that the children can touch and hold.
These are hands-on sessions that are designed to bring classwork to life. Students will be encouraged to ask and answer questions and participation of the trusted adults in the group will help the less confident students to get the most from this experience.
If you have particular requirements or would like to order a specific mini-trail (50p trail, with a pencil) for use around the Zoo, please inform us at the time of booking.
During this session students will discuss the importance of biodiversity and ecosystems whilst
getting hands on with a range of biofacts and meeting some of our smaller residents. The session explores island ecosystems and evolution, as well as conservation themes.
Find out all about the world of work in this exciting and diverse setting. Whether your students want to work with animals, become chefs, manage teams dealing with visitors or want to work in social networking, Banham Zoo is a great case study! This session is inactive and involves animal handling.
Just For Fun!
During this Discovery Session students will have the opportunity to touch and hold biofacts and a variety of small animals including invertebrates and a reptile. This is a great chance for a fun experience at the end of term or when no specific learning goals are required.
