Local Gym JW CORE is hosting a weightlifting challenge to raise funds for the Zoological Society of East Anglia, the International Animal Conservation charity that also runs Banham Zoo and Africa Alive!
Over the course of a week the gym hopes that its members will lift a total of 150,000kg in weight- the weight of a full sized Blue Whale.
Gym owner, Jamie-lee Weller said “Animal conservation has always been close to my heart. Humans hunt and persecute wild animals and destroy their natural habitat. Using JW CORE as a platform, I am joining the conservation fight to help save innocent lives and therefore contribute towards the protection of endangered species”.
Head of Fundraising for ZSEA, Michael Kitching said “Without the support of businesses like JW CORE and business owners like Jamie, ZSEA would be unable to take the great strides it has in recent years”
“We work with some of the worlds most endangered animals, both in our parks and overseas in the wild to strengthen and protect Critically Endangered species.”
To take part, participants need to have registered by Saturday 30th April and the challenge will take place over the course of the week of 2nd – 8th May 2016
