The government has now made it mandatory to wear face coverings in indoor settings.
As the safety of our colleagues, animals and visitors is our highest priority, we are asking that face coverings are worn in all indoor areas around the zoo. When ordering inside our restaurant masks are required, although visitors may remove masks when eating.
Banham Zoo and Africa Alive! Annual | 2 Year Pass receive a 10% discount in the Pavilion Café, Pavilion Pantry, Snack Shacks and Gift Shop (exclusions apply).
We have six different places around the zoo, whether you’re looking for a hearty meal, healthy lunch or a tempting treat; we’ve got something for you!
Located in the heart of the zoo and close to the Adventure Play Area, the newly refurbished Pavilion Café is the ideal place to stop off for a morning coffee, lunch or afternoon tea.
Sausage rolls, sandwiches, wraps, and freshly made salads are all there to tempt every whim and, of course, we couldn’t miss the sumptuous range of cakes to satisfy that special treat we all deserve. Much of our menu accommodates those needing gluten free options so just speak to any member of the team who will make sure every diet is catered for.
Serve yourself from our choice of hot and cold drinks carefully selected for their quality.
It doesn’t stop there. Of course we have a special menu just for the young explorers visiting the zoo whether from our hot menu or our “KIDZMIX” range where from for only £4.95 for any 5 items selected from the range.
If you fancy a quieter place to relax and unwind then stop off at the Pavilion Pantry which offers a more tranquil setting along with delicious varieties of Puro coffee, teas and a selection of cakes, sandwiches, wraps, toasted sandwiches & teacakes, paninis and cream teas. Guests can eat indoors or ‘al fresco’ on the terrace.
Check out our Pavilion Pantry menu to see what we have on offer.
Snack Shacks (Seasonal opening)
In addition to our Pavilion Café and Trading Post Coffee Shop, Snack Shacks are located around the zoo where you can buy snacks, drinks and a selection of ice creams whilst on route.
Free Drinking Water Stations
We know it is important to keep hydrated during a day at the zoo so provide locations where you can refill your water bottles easily and, of course, completely free of charge. Drinking water stations are located in the Pavilion Café and outside Woodland, Jungle and Perky’s snack shacks.
We take great pride in ensuring our guests can enjoy the highest quality food and drink, whilst representing excellent value. At the same time, as a conservation charity, we also think it’s extremely important that everything we offer has as little negative impact on our planet as possible. With this in mind we have taken the following measures:
Single Use Plastic
We only offer drinks in cans, glass bottles or tetra cartons. Single use plastic is a major issue which has been highlighted by zoos and conservationists and now accepted by government. We encourage our guests to embrace this stance by supporting us and, where plastic bottles are in use, reuse them wherever possible. We have provided drinking water stations to enable you to do just this.
Where possible we avoid any products which contain palm oil. Where it is present, sustainable palm oil is used.
All of the fish served is certified as MSC sustainably sourced fish.
All of our draught cold drinks all contain less than the 8% sugar threshold as do most the drinks served in cans or glass. Pepsi is still available for guests who choose to purchase where sugar tax will apply.
Reducing our carbon footprint
Wherever possible we source our ingredients locally. Realistically we are unable to do this for everything so for all remaining food and drinks, we source from one single supplier serviced from a hub.
