ZSEA staff ‘take the plunge’ for endangered Lemurs!

Friday 19th July 2019

Three members of staff from the Zoological Society of East Anglia (ZSEA), the charity that leads Africa Alive! and Banham Zoo, will be taking on the exhilarating challenge of jumping from 13,000ft on a tandem skydive, freefalling at speeds of up to 120mph and raising funds to save critically endangered lemurs.

ZSEA Skydive

The brave, (some may say crazy!) trio are taking on the challenge to raise vital funds for the Lemur Conservation Association (AEECL), whose work in Madagascar is focused on protecting and conserving the lemurs of the Sahamalaza National Park and their habitat.

The intrepid three are made up of Gary Batters, ZSEA Director of Conservation & Education, Peter Long, ZSEA Graphic Designer and Sam Leadbetter, ZSEA Education Officer.

The skydive will take place at 8.30am on August 23rd at Beccles Airfield and all donations received to support this epic event will go directly towards the AEECL’s emergency vehicle fundraiser. The majority of the conservation and community work undertaken by the AEECL is in remote forests and villages and the roads to get there are incredibly hazardous so a robust and reliable vehicle is critical. Unfortunately, the current AEECL 4×4 pick up is no longer functional so an emergency appeal has been launched to raise funds for a new one to ensure that the vital wildlife conservation work can continue.

If you would like to help support the courageous three on their quest and make a difference to wildlife conservation, please visit our Virgin Money Giving page to donate.   @aeecl
