Ten-year-old Inca was the first to arrive, coming to Norfolk from Chester Zoo. Inca is a lowland tapir and the first resident of our brand-new South American habitat, which is set to become a vibrant mixed-species environment with other species joining Inca soon. Lowland tapirs are South America's largest land mammal and play an important role spreading seeds through the rainforest in their droppings. Visitors can look out for Inca splashing in the pool, breathing through her snorkel-like nose.

We have also welcomed an iconic species back to the zoo, with the arrival of five-year-old Grant's zebra Zoom, who has joined us from Jimmy's Farm & Wildlife Park. Grant's zebras are the smallest subspecies of plains zebra and each have their own unique stripe pattern, just as humans have their own unique fingerprints. Zoom has settled in well, and we're excited for visitors to meet him over the coming months.

Our most recent arrival travelled from Cologne Zoo in Germany. Timur is a two-year-old male Amur tiger who joins us as a companion for Mishka. His arrival marks an exciting new chapter for one of the world's most iconic and endangered species. Timur has been exploring his habitat and getting to know his new keepers. He's a big boy at 170 kilos, and still has more growing to do!

It has been an incredible summer at Banham Zoo and we can't wait to welcome visitors to meet Inca, Zoom and Timur as they settle in.
