New Tiger Arriving This Summer
We're excited to be welcoming Timur to Banham Zoo this summer.
We are thrilled to announce that Timur, a magnificent two-year-old Amur tiger, will soon be making the journey from Cologne Zoo in Germany to Banham Zoo, where he will become the new companion to our much-loved resident tiger, Mishka.
Timur's arrival marks an exciting new chapter not only for our tigers but also for our ongoing commitment to the conservation of one of the world's most iconic and endangered big cats. This carefully planned move supports the long-term management and protection of the Amur tiger population in conservation zoos across Europe.
Amur tigers have faced decades of pressure from habitat loss and poaching. Today, it is estimated that fewer than 500 Amur tigers remain in the wild, making coordinated conservation efforts more important than ever.
We are proud to play our part in international breeding and conservation programmes that help protect endangered species for generations to come. Every visit to Banham Zoo helps support these vital efforts.
We can't wait to welcome Timur to his new home and to share this exciting journey with you. Keep an eye on our website and social media channels for updates as Timur prepares to arrive at Banham Zoo. We look forward to introducing you to this incredible young tiger very soon.
